Astra Kid
Nov. 2nd, Hafenklang, Hamburg
The young german indie-pop-rock-somethings have just been supporting Wir Sind Helden, and now 'headline' in front of 20 people, announced as an afternoon-concert, but beginning five hours late. It's refreshing how little earnest they take themselves, singing insignificant lyrics like "All I want is a parking place in Muenster". As there's just one CD out yet, the encores turn out to be songs written in their childhood. Definitely an evening that will leave you in good temper.

Angelika Express
Oct. 25th, Molotow, Hamburg
Angelika Express successfully mix indie-rock sounds with parts of Berlin pop. On CD, that mix sometimes sounds a bit powerless and misses a straight line, but for their rocking live show, that's complete nonsense. In Delbo they also found a great support band with great potential, although I'd wish they'd shut up sometimes for better enjoyment of their mogwai-like intense soundwalls. Angelika Express will release a new ep on Nov. 24th, called "Ich bin kein Amerikaner", of which 4 songs already gave their show a great ending.

Hole Lotta Love
Former Smashing Pumpkins/Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur will release her self-titled solo debut in February. A Perfect Circle's Jeordie White and Queens of the Stone Age's Mark Lanegan reportedly have joined Auf der Maur's all-star list of collaborators, which already included ex-Pumpkins guitarist James Iha and Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl. "I wanted to make a rock & roll fantasy record," Auf der Maur says in reference to the album's many high-profile guests. [more]

Feeling Generous
Blink-182 apparently don't want your money. Not only are they playing $1 concerts in support of their forthcoming self-titled CD (due Nov. 18), now they are previewing the album online for free here. Also, the video for the album's first single, "Feeling This," can be downloaded here. And here's some free advice from the group: stop tagging the Blink logo on police cars. [more]
